Beautiful Butterflies

Grow and release your own butterflies. This project is fairly low maintenance especially in the realm of growing something that is alive. It is a lot of fun and kids can see changes in their little house guests pretty fast. The whole project start to finish is about three weeks. It is perfect if your in an area under quarantine or restrictions my kids got up each day excited to see what had happened in the night.

This project was not without challenges for us. The whole kit arrived quickly and in excellent condition. I told the girls to be really careful with the box as the whole thing was a surprise for them and they didn't know what was inside. Well our two year old heard hit the box really hard with a medal stick when I said it's FRAGILE... So we lost a number of our caterpillars before they even got out of the box. We started with seven little tiny crawlers and they grow huge before going into their hanging J position. In the end we hatched five butterflies, one had wrinkly double wings and did not survive, but the other four turned out beautiful. They were super fun to watch and feed and then release.

CAUTION: Be careful when you release them our cat thought they looked like a great snack and came really really close to eating one right in front of the girls who had just lovingly grown the beauties.

Check out our journey in the pictures we took along the way and I'll share the Amazon link we personally used below. We are starting the process over and just received five new tiny little caterpillars today!! The girls are so excited! 🦋

I don't get anything if you make a purchase, I just had good success with this particular product. 😊
